In Her Wake Janice Mauro Demo Media.jpg

In Her Wake

Anonymous Society presents In Her Wake, a solo exhibition of figurative sculpture by Redding, Connecticut based artist Janice Mauro, on view from September 11 through November 1, 2025. The exhibition centers on the enduring strength of women, both remembered and overlooked, and reflects on how the body becomes a vessel for legacy, labor, and resilience.

Mauro’s mastery of form and gesture brings the female figure into full presence, anchored, powerful, and unrelenting. Some figures rise in quiet monumentality while others rest in intimacy, yet each speaks to care, endurance, and the unseen work that binds generations. In Her Wake stands as an invitation to witness the living force of memory and the continual shaping of what endures.

Turn Towards Bright FB and Postcards.jpg

Turn Towards Bright

Anonymous Society presents Turn Towards Bright, a two-person exhibition featuring artwork by Becky Bailey and Anna Schwartz. On view from July 24 through August 30, 2025, the exhibition brings together painting and sculpture in a shared meditation on perception, presence, and the quiet force of color.

Bailey and Schwartz each work with materials that invite the viewer to linger to move more slowly, to notice more deeply. Their practices are rooted in tactility, balance, and sensation. Through distinct yet complementary approaches, both artists create visual spaces that resist noise and lean toward resonance. Brightness here is not spectacle but signal—a form of attention that illuminates rather than overwhelms.

Turn Towards Bright explores vision as an active, intentional act. In a world of constant distraction, the works in this exhibition ask what it means to truly look, to hold focus, and to experience clarity. Bailey and Schwartz offer viewers not answers but encounters; moments of vibrational presence where color, shape, and form speak in their own quiet language.

If / Only / And / Then

Anonymous Society presents If / Only / And / Then, a group exhibition featuring painting and mixed media by Sonja Langford (North Carolina / Connecticut), Faye Pamintuan (Philippines / Texas / New York), and Rachel Volpone (Connecticut). On view from June 5 through July 20, 2025, the exhibition explores how the language we carry—spoken, unspoken, imagined—shapes the course of our lives.

Through themes of transformation, personal mythology, and constructed identity, the works in If / Only / And / Then engage with the radical act of self-authorship in systems that have historically distorted or commodified the female voice. This exhibition is not about resolution—it is about movement. It charts direction through deliberate, imaginative acts that carve out space for becoming.

Whether abstract or narrative, the practices of Langford, Pamintuan, and Volpone resist containment. The show invites viewers into an open dialogue about identity, memory, and possibility—where complexity is not only acknowledged but honored.
